Sweden’s unemployed are willing to work for lower pay and consider that the costs for employing is a major barrier for employers to hire. It is among the findings of the survey of the situation for 500 unemployed that the think tank Fores commissioned.

Think tank Fores asked 500 unemployed people in a survey how they see the unemployment rate. The survey is probably the largest of this kind made outside of public institutions and is conducted in cooperation with Swedbank and Novus Opinion.

The survey shows that as 59 percent of the unemployed, 7 out of 10 young unemployed people, are prepared to take a job with lower pay. 3 out of 10 are prepared to go down heavily in salary, with 20 percent and sees the Cost to hire out as the major obstacle to job creation. Four out of ten are willing to refrain from LAS to get a job. Among young people think more than half that they will not be recruited to the wages and job security that apply.

Swedbank’s analysis highlights that a very large majority are willing to change the industry and to work part time, especially women and youth. However, very few of them are ready to move. Almost half of the unemployed would also start their own business, but faced obstacles.
